Subban has participated in two goals from Craig Smith.
In the aftermath of a counter-performance, the Predators from Nashville have played with more bite to it than the Canadian and the visitors have left the Bell Centre having won the match 4-1, Saturday.
The head coach of the Predators, Peter Laviolette, had flayed his troops after a defeat in extra-time 4-3 to the Detroit Red Wings on Friday. His players responded with a performance that is tight defensively.
“There was a little anger in their game, they were more affutés, and we have not been able to meet, explained the head coach of the Canadian, Claude Julien. We played hockey soft, we have lost the battles, we were always second on the puck. It is only when we have marked that we had a semblance of life. But they immediately replicated, and it killed us. “
The purpose of Shea Weber at 12:47 of the second third had allowed the Habs to reduce the gap to 2-1. However, Craig Smith has responded with his second of the night just 17 seconds later.
Julien has used his challenge, believing that Smith had interfered with the work of Carey Price on the initial shot from P. K. Subban. On the occasions, Price seemed, however, to have initiated the contact with Smith, before the latter recovers the return and beat the goalkeeper for speed in going around the net.
“It is 50-50 and, because it is like that, we take more risks with our challenge, said Julien. If it was more clear to our eyes between what is good or not, we would choose better moments to use it. “
On his third visit to the Bell Centre in the uniform of the Predators, Subban has had his say on the victory of his own in collecting two helpers. Subban has reached the plateau of the 300 references to aid in the NHL — 215 with the Habs and 85 with the Predators.
Supporters warmly applauded Subban when he left the rink at the end of the warm-up period and when the advertiser-house presented it at the unveiling of the initial training of Predators. As was the case during its previous visits, the applause turned into boos when the match started.
Subban has participated in two goals from Smith, who scored on returns in each of the first two periods. Mattias ekholm forlag has harvested a goal and an assist, Viktor Arvidsson did fly in a empty cage and Juuse Saros has rejected 27 shots in front of the net of Predators (25-15-3).
The Canadian has often experienced trouble in the output area and the supporters have not had much to be put in the tooth.
Weber, acquired in return for Subban on 29 June 2016, is also inserted in the history of the game by scoring his sixth goal of the season. On his side, Price made 28 stops, but the Canadian (22-15-5) has finally received a second setback in seven outings.
The Canadian has attempted to increase the pressure late in the third period, but the Predators have not released their hold on the victory. The veteran Dan Hamhuis threw himself in front of a firing Jesperi Kotkaniemi with a little less than six minutes to go on the most beautiful occasion of the Habs late in the game.
Note that Kotkaniemi has reached the plateau of 20 points, raising assistance on the purpose of Weber. He thus became the third player in the history of Canadian to reach this plateau before celebrating his 19th birthday, after Mario Tremblay in 1974-75 and Petr Svoboda in 1984-85.
The Canadian will play its next game on Monday, when the Wild of Minnesota will be visiting the Bell Centre.
Echoes of locker room
Carey Price on the subject of the explanations provided by the arbitrators on the third goal of the Predators :
“I have not seen the recovery, and so I can’t judge the decision. [The referees] told me that I came into contact with the player outside of the crease. […] Anyway, it would have changed nothing since it was the third goal and that we have not scored another goal. “
Phillip Danault summarized the meeting in a succinct manner :
“They have played well in their game. They have well made the door and they capitalized on their chances. But it is certain that we have not been good enough. “
Shea Weber, on the face of the Predators for a third time in career :
“This will probably be a bit strange for the rest of my career, but this was far from the be as much as two years ago. “
P. K. Subban on the subject of hecklers in his place :
“This is normal, the fans should boo the opposition players when they have the puck. And I’m used to it. I have a lot of respect for the fans here and the organization. It is a good environment to play hockey. [The Canadian] counting on several young players who will enjoy their visit here and they have a good team. But for us, these are two big points acquired abroad. “
